History of Winter Glory

The Winter Glory Women’s Conference has grown out of the annual women’s day at the church of Christ the King in Kettering (ctk.org.uk). After three years in the church we felt the Lord was telling us to “give it away” to the wider church. We had always had women from other churches attending, but this was to be for everyone. In recent years, we have been amazed by the wide range of churches, denominations, and geographical locations represented among our conference guests. Right from our first event in church we have always started with a team day of prayer, in which we have sought God’s plans for the day and then all the shaping of the conference has sprung from that time.

Our aim has been to glorify the Lord and to encourage his daughters in every way that we could- making them feel welcome, loved and valued. Fresh flowers and hand-cream in the loos, free magazines and bible notes, little gifts and a whole team of “smiley ladies”, along with the opportunity to take time out to listen to God and worship him – we aim to pour out love over our guests, as a reflection of God’s love. The Lord has provided amazingly to enable us to run the conference, and each time the women attending have given generously to the offering too, so we have been able to donate over £10,000 to charities.

In 2013 we made the bold move to Kettering Conference Centre, unknowingly fulfilling a prophecy given fourteen years earlier, that what was then purely a sports centre would one day host large Christian conferences. In 2018, we launched our first additional venue, with a conference also taking place at St George’s Church in Stamford. Each year we have had amazing speakers, fantastic musicians leading times of sung worship, and wonderful prayer spaces. Over the years, we have also had a range of seminar options to choose from, craft workshops, spaces for reflection, charity information stands, and retail stands selling fairtrade goods, inspirational jewellery and gifts, and Christian books.

Things will be changing again in 2019: The Kettering conference will be moving to a new venue – Kettering Bucchleuch Academy. St George’s, Stamford will be taking a break from hosting a conference for this year. We have a new additional conference venue for 2019 – Holy Trinity Church in Leicester will be hosting their very own Winter Glory Conference.

The theme (“One Love”) will be the same in each venue; both main speakers are members of the New Wine National Leadership Team and will be speaking on the same topic.

We hope you will be able to come and join us on Saturday 26th January 2019, and that you will be greatly blessed and encouraged if you do!

Don’t forget: bring your lunch, bible, notebook and money for refreshments and shopping.
